The Amalfi Coast, also known as the “sirens” coast', forms the southern side of the Sorrento Peninsula that divides the Gulf of Naples from the Gulf of Salerno. Of calcareous origin, mighty cliffs plunge into the sea, characterising the entire Amalfi Coast with inlets of extraordinary beauty, such as the Bay of Ieranto, the splendid Emerald Grotto at Conca dei Marini and the Fiordo di Furore.
You can be sure that the Amalfi Coast will amaze you with its breathtaking beauty, and with the many suggestive views along the coast, such as the enchanting fiord of Furore. From the sea, you will be a privileged spectator of a unique landscape spectacle.
The Amalfi Coast is one of the 53 Italian sites included by UNESCO in the World Heritage List. The best way to experience it is to discover it from the sea, by boat, and Fiart rent's charter service is the ideal solution for your holiday in absolute tranquillity, knowing that you can count on the reliable Fiart rent team at all times. Enjoy your holiday!
It is the true jewel of the Amalfi Coast. Set like a precious diamond in the mountains, enveloped in rich Mediterranean vegetation, Positano is a village so picturesque it looks like a theatre set. Seen from the sea, it offers a spectacle that makes one think of a painting. The Mediterranean whiteness of the houses, the bougainvillea flowers covering the roofs, the majolica domes and the gentle slope of the houses towards the sea make this place a wonderful natural setting. The village develops vertically with the houses leaning against each other, characterised by their arched porticos towards the sea.
The narrow streets, with their numerous boutiques (Positano is famous for its fashion style of colourful clothes), descend steeply between the houses to the Marina Grande (the true centre of Positano where there are numerous restaurants and clubs), where there is a wide beach. On the main square of Positano stands the church of Santa Maria Assunta (existing since the year 1000), characteristic for its dome covered in coloured majolica.
Positano is a popular summer holiday destination for VIPs. Illustrious personalities from the art, fashion, and show business love to spend their holidays here.
Positano's small beaches are enchanting: Fornillo, Fiumicello, Arienzo.
With its long beach and beautiful seafront promenade, Maiori boasts a large number of hotel accommodation facilities, the most remarkable on the Amalfi Coast. Ruins of castles and towers testify to its splendour in the Middle Ages, when it was surrounded and defended by walls and fortifications.
The most important building in Maiori is the church of Santa Maria a Mare.
But Maiori also offers a splendid crystal-clear sea in which to immerse oneself, and it is worth visiting the Sulphurous Cave and the Pandora Cave. The former is rich in sulphurous-magnesium water with curative properties; in the latter, emerald reflections on the walls where stalactites and stalagmites stand out, create a very evocative scenario.
There are truly idyllic spots in which to relax and find some peace, such as the bay of Salicerchie and Cala Bellavaia, famous as the ’Dead Horse“ beach, and also the ”Badia“ area and Capo d'orso, characterised by gorges and rocks with peculiar shapes.
For those who can find a place in Maiori's small harbour, we recommend a visit to the nearby, pretty Minori (also within walking distance). With its little pink houses dominating the small beach, Minori is an enchanting seaside resort, offering visitors a splendid landscape.
Sailing along the Amalfi Coast, just before Salerno, one comes to Cetara. This delightful town has always been a fishing village, and indeed its name derives from the “Cetari”, the formidable tuna hunters. Cetara was the last town of the Amalfi Federation, its gateway and bastion. Without a doubt, Cetara is one of the jewels of the Amalfi Coast, with its houses of picturesque white architecture, and its beach gathered in front of the small square. Among the spontaneous construction of small cubic houses, the church of San Pietro stands out, with its maiolica tiled dome and 13th-century mullioned bell tower.
Cetara is a placid, industrious village, living a quiet existence of summer tourism and winter fishing, where a true maritime atmosphere can still be appreciated. It is one of those places that deserve to be visited by yachtsmen during a cruise.
